Gilt titling and ornamentation on cloth, with rough cut edges, top gilt. Corners rubbed, heel and head of spine frayed. One of 250 numbered copies, this copy 246, 'signed' by Whistler with his butterfly monogram.The book was in part a response to, in part a direct transcript of, Whistler's famous libel suit against critic John Ruskin.
